X-magazine is more than just a trend spotter it’s a powerhouse built on sophisticated emerging markets and how they can support one another in the industry. The premise was created on “everything is connected to everything else” and we wanted to display that through how emerging trends in architecture, design, fashion, and art under a single editorial. These fast paced ever careers are always looking for the newest ways to be creative in their respective markets while at the same time borrowing from another field.
Thematically there is an X symbolizing the unified competitiveness in multiple disciplines into the path of the unknown world. We had a lot of fun and went through a lot of revisions especially with the photography aspect which we shot ourselves and of course the only cover which needed major digital composition was the architecture issue. The X has often been associated sense of mysteriousness from things like X-Men, Xbox, Planet X, and the ever so popular European talent show the X Factor.
Topics covered aren’t typically your straightforward method of articles either offering an array of interests that you wouldn’t normally associate when you’re combing seemingly unrelated topics under one issue. A Hybrid magazine of this nature has to be flexible in order to support a multi faceted array of readers entertaining creative enthusiast as well as industry trained professionals. By focusing on the interests of the consumer we wanted to push the envelope by specifically uniting the most basic elements of design topics readily available so that there were few cross platform language barriers as possible while emphasizing their eternal impact on our culture. By wielding such a broad section the magazine can be solid and robust yet contemporary and expressive.
