Keith Blair Memorial Softball Tournament logo was comprised of the spirit of Keith Blair himself using hues of blue close to the lake in which he lived. The little league softball teams logo although symmetrical delivers the classic diamond symbolism of the plying field. The friendly openness of the design presents a familiar invitation to even the most novices of players inviting an atmosphere of ease and delight. The heavy typography gives the overall feel a sense of importance through in its appearance. And the use of all caps with small caps sustains the weight of the design in a form of power applied through out the game of softball. Though the typography is mostly the dominant force in this design it’s the accent of proportion that allow for a vibrant and dynamic harmony. A lot of players were families and close friends who knew Keith so the importance of respected simplicity was how we managed to keep things traditional. On the back of the t-shirts that were screen printed are the names of the family members placed on individual softballs.
The main obstacle was to provide not just another logo but something that would really hit home in the hearts of those who were involved in partaking in this special event. A sense of honor, love, and spirit were more than just team driven but struck clearly into a favorite past time of memories with a man whom was truly apart of peoples lives. The attention focused on friends having fun on the occasion, instead of woeful in a sanctuary of mourning. This was highly important of selections of a color pallet to keep them all bright and cheerful in light radiating hues while using strands of lines and strokes to offset the bulkiness of solid colors.
