Designing for Burnside Little League or any little league team can be a challenge especially when you want to express an old fashioned idea to the youth and still be authentic. To remain a classic traditional team for this 50th Anniversary Logo is the source to creating a natural experience without becoming too run out. This is why exploring methods that were risky were important to really push the limit on what may be considered out of date. We looked at old baseball cards, signatures from autographed memorabilia, the evolution of scoreboards, and manufacturer bat branding to elevate what would be salvaged through fresh creative ideas. Taking this project forward for the client presented a general interest overtime that was well received for all participants and spectators on the overall design.
The textures that were added embellished the rough feel of the logo even more to the experience of tradition that has been going on for half a century. The distribution of elements became more apparent to have an identifiable theme that would naturally appear aged and worn like brand companies such as Abercrombie and Fitch are renown for producing. Wooden benches, skid marks, running water and even old paint would have been perfect for supplying the texture just right for the logo and accompanying products. But in the end we went with just what felt right ultimately what we thought the children would like best. Always pushing outside, around, through, and on the surface of the box until it changes form completely presenting new possibilities has become completely natural for us.
